It's Official
More or less, today makes it official - we are the proud parents of two high school kids.
While I don't know about other parents, I do know that as my kids have grown up, as they were very young and times were challenging and trying, I would think to myself that I could not possibly wait until they were grown and in high school. Just to have that bit of extra freedom for myself.
It's a very selfish thing, but of course one does not realize that at the time. The wishing away of all the moments that come along during the growth of ones children.
Thankfully, we still have more to go - one in the midst of middle school and another really only just getting started in lower elementary.
Is there anything that I would change? Not in this aspect, absolutely not.
Orientation
Yes, the twins are at freshman orientation today.
I suppose that we could consider this to be the first day of high school for them, but I think we're going to call this one a wash and say that tomorrow is actually their first day. So we'll get the whole first day of school pictures tomorrow, when we can get everybody in them.
It can be challenging - to say the least - to wrangle four kiddos into getting decent photos within a respectable time-frame.
It's right up there with herding cats insofar as my favorite things to do.
Speaking of photos: High School photos are on Monday. The first Monday of the school year. After only having been in school for - officially - three days (I'll give them the half-day Wednesday as a full day). That is just insane to me.
It's like big box stores and their holiday sets: early, early, early.
One of these years they'll be doing school photos in July. Early July. Seems that I recall school photos being in the Fall.
Let's not even get started on all that went into those, when they provided you with a comb and plenty of time to get set and would take more than one shot and didn't charge an arm and a leg for photos and options. You would think that going digital would make things easier on the company's….nope, just more profitable.
Ugh. Anyhow - that's all I've got for now.
